What is Cryotherapy?
What is Cryotherapy?
Cryotherapy, often referred to as “cryo,” is a modern evolution of traditional cold-plunge and ice-pack therapies. At Innovative Health Gym & Wellness Clinic, we are proud to offer state-of-the-art full-body cryotherapy services designed to promote optimal health, wellness, and recovery.
This cutting-edge treatment involves exposing your body to extremely cold temperatures ranging between -150°F to -200°F for a short session of 2-3 minutes. These brief but intense sessions trigger a series of beneficial physiological responses that may offer a wide range of health benefits.
How Cryotherapy Works
When your body is exposed to these ultra-cold temperatures, it reacts by constricting blood vessels and directing blood flow to vital organs. This process stimulates oxygenation and nutrient delivery throughout the body. As the session ends and your body rewarms, the blood vessels dilate, flushing out toxins and promoting circulation.
The result? A feeling of rejuvenation and various potential benefits for both physical and mental well-being.

Cryotherapy treatment sessions typically last between 2-3 minutes, but many people only last 1-1.5 minutes their first time. Since the treatment times are short, and you can receive full-body cryo up to twice a day, feel free to take your time over multiple sessions to build up your cold tolerance to the full 3 minutes.
Check in at the front desk and let them know you’re here for your cryo appointment. Afterwards you’ll be guided back to the cryotherapy room and will be given a pair of gloves, socks and slippers (required for use in the cryo chamber) and offered a beanie, face mask, ear muffs, and robe (all optional) to help with your comfort during your session.
To get the maximum cold benefits, you’ll want to expose as much of your core and extremities to the cold as possible, so wearing only shorts or a bathing suit are recommended (underwear is okay too). There is a private changing area for you to disrobe and put on the cryo garments before your session, and you may use the robe to cover up before going into the frosted glass cryo chamber. Once you’re all set, you’ll be able to start your 2-3 minute cryo session – being exposed to temperatures down to -150 degrees.
After your session you simply head back into the changing area, get dressed, and put all the cryo garments into the laundry basket before heading up to the front to checkout.
Cryotherapy may provide numerous benefits, including but not limited tp:
- Improve skin elasticity, texture, and tone – relieving signs of:
- Cellulite – Skin dimpling
- Skin aging
- Improve vasocirculation
- Flushes out toxin, improving blood flow throughout the body
- Metabolically burn 500-800 calories over hours after a full cryo session
- Release mood improving hormones
- Improve joint disorders such as arthritis (RA and OA)
- Increase recovery speeds from injuries and improve physical performance
- Improve immune system response
- Decrease stress levels
- Increase mental alertness
For most healthy individuals, you can safely do up two full, 3 minute cryo sessions per day.

You should wear minimal clothing for your cryo session. Underwear, shorts, or a bathing suit are recommended, we will provide gloves, socks, and slippers to protect your extremities and also have optional face masks, beanies and ear muffs for your comfort. We ask that you remove all jewelry prior to entering the cryo chamber, and please also refrain from applying lotion or body oils prior to the session. Side note, you should be dry for your cryo session to prevent moisture from freezing on your skin, so please dry off if you are sweaty or got rained on. Just let us know if you need a towel and we’ll happily provide one.
Our cryo chamber model is The Edge by Olympic Cryo, proudly locally manufactured in Sequim, WA.
